Type:

IFIP 8.2 Organizations and Society in Information Systems (OASIS) 2008 Workshop
A Pre-ICIS Workshop
ICIS Conference, Paris, France
9.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. Saturday 13 December 2008

Organizational transformations are happening on a global scale, are often dependent on IT and are fuelled by economic processes of globalization. On the surface increasing adoption of IT appears to suggest that anything can be done, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Such a view is also imbued with assumptions of how work and IT-enabled business processes and networking can be managed in the global economy. ICTs are described as empowering for organizations and for individuals to embrace opportunities.

These opportunities are in developing new network business models, organizational forms, collaborations and work practices but there are important challenges at many levels, societal, cultural, industrial, professional, organizational, group and individual. The workshop aims to understand these transformations, and to examine key implications for organizations and their employees in the global economy. We invite abstracts that examine IT-enabled networking and work in context.

Come get to know our members and their research interests, issues, and methodologies in a relaxed and supportive setting. The unique and collegial character of WG 8.2 ensures constructive, helpful and high quality feedback. OASIS is a particularly useful forum for those just embarking on their research who
need constructive advice on research approaches.

Abstracts from the workshop are available in the attached file.
