The meeting was called to order at 11:50am by Nancy Russo (US)

1. Nancy started by thanking the organizers of the conference for the Guimarães conference just concluded.

2. Upcoming events were presented:
a. The next event will be an Oasis Workshop to be held around the ICIS conference in Phoenix, AZ. ICIS this year starts on Wednesday, so a question is whether the Oasis should be before or after the conference

LIEDA AMARAL DE SOUZA

I am a brazilian student at a Technology and Information Systems Doctoral Program in the University of Minho, Portugal. I´m a master´s degree in Production Engineering by Federal University from Rio Grande do Norte - Brazil and Pos Graduated in Management Accounting at FGV. My current field of research and interest is focused on crowdsourcing innovation business model and risk management in brokering services specialized in the innovation needs of SMEs.

Gamel Wiredu, Ph.D

I am a Senior Lecturer of Information Systems at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). I hold MSc and PhD degrees in Information Systems from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK. I am generally interested in the use of information technologies for coordination and control of distributed activities. I am currently doing research on the harmony between the usability of handheld computers and inter-organisational control.

CREATIVE SME 2009 - Entrepreneurship in high tech startups

In a very dinamyc presentation Prof. Michael Dowling from University of Regensburg -DE told us about his research about entrepreneurship in high tech startups.
He told that the intensity of international competition in new technologies has increased dramatically in the last few years and a key success factor has become the ability of entrepreneurs to manage both new technologies and business opportunities. He presented some USA and Germany research projects, some real cases of entrepreneurs and success cases.

Panel: It was a very dynamic panel and finished after the planned time.
Prof. Carl Adams (University of Portsmouth-UK) and Isabel Ramos (University of Minho - PT) presented the first panel.
At first Carl Adams began making a joke showing us two boxes and asking to guess how many sweets in each box and to write the answer on a paper. Each guess tried to answer how many sweets are there in each box.
After this exercise he asked guess what was and is crowdsourcing?

John Robert Venable

John Venable is Associate Professor and former Head of School at the School of Information Systems, Curtin University of Technology, in Perth, Western Australia. He holds a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy and an M.S. in Management Science, an M.S. in Advanced Technology, and a PhD in Advanced Technology (Information Systems) from Binghamton University, USA.

Isabel Ramos

Isabel Ramos has a doctorate degree in Information Technologies and Systems, specialization in Information Systems Engineering and Management, since 2001. She also has a master degree in Informatics for management.
Isabel Ramos is an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems Department of the Minho University, Portugal. She is Chair of the Information Systems Master Programs of the University.
